Jamal Maatuka is an Entrepreneur and Teacher at Champaign Central High School. He is the founder and CEO of “theBlackTeacher.com,” a virtual learning environment for the African American Community, the Homeschooling Community, and teachers looking to expand their diversity in teaching and presentation.
Currently, a secondary educator within the Unit 4 Career and Technical Education department, Mr. Maatuka teaches Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Investments, Accounting, Multi-Media, and Business Foundations. Jamal has a Bachelors of Science in Finance, as well as an MBA with a concentration in Marketing.
He has been a practicing entrepreneur for the past 20 years. His past entrepreneurial ventures include Owner and operator of Black Thought Publications, Village Day Care, Home Team Realty, and Car-Laborations Ride Share. His current ventures include Airbnb Host, Fanpalooza and “theBlackTeacher.com”.
A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., whose motto is “first of all, servants to all, we shall transcend all,” Jamal Maatuka believes staunchly in community service, servant leadership, and that economic independence is key to the revitalization of the African American Community. A champion of Growth Mindset, Jamal Maatuka firmly believes that belief, a process founded on intentional practice, and proper monitoring of results, allows for success to be eminent in any endeavor.
A husband, father, coach, and avid reader, Mr. Maatuka believes in the commitment to family, the importance of learning, and experiencing life to its fullest.
